European Cybersecurity: Future Trends and Policy Challenges

Workshop

The scale of the cyber threat to Europe's essential computer infrastructures continues to grow, while the state of European cybersecurity generally remains poor. This expert workshop, jointly organised by the Oxford Cyber Studies Programme and the European Commission Directorate General for Communications Networks, Content, and Technology (DG CONNECT), will gather senior academics and practitioners from across the technology, social science, and policymaking sectors to discuss key themes in European Cybersecurity. The workshop's Working Groups will explore current and emergent challenges relating to regional cyber issues – including quantum computing, blockchain technology, human and behavioural aspects of cyber threats, civil-military relations, information warfare, as well as law and privacy. The workshop will end with a Plenary Session at which participants will present their main conclusions and identify cross-cutting themes. The co-Chairs of the workshop will be Dr. Lucas Kello, Senior Lecturer in International Relations and Director of the Cyber Studies Programme, and Robert Madelin, Visiting Research Fellow in DPIR and Research Associate of CIS.
