Cybersecurity and the Future of the European Union

Seminar

This seminar will explore how cybersecurity issues relate to the overall EU policy landscape. The discussion will cover a broad range of topics, including the Digital Single Market, European Commission reform, Data4Policy, digital futures, digital humanities, and regional security issues.

Robert Madelin is a Visiting Research Fellow in the Cyber Studies Programme at the Department of Politics and International Relations. He is also the Senior Innovation Adviser in the in-house think tank of President Jean-Claude Juncker at the European Commission. He was an undergraduate member of Magdalen College Oxford (matriculation 1976), where he gained a First in Modern History and Modern Languages. Robert has spent his entire career since Oxford working in public service, first for the UK Government and then, from 1993, at the European Commission. From 2010 onwards, Robert’s work has focused on media policy and Internet governance.
