Sean McFate is an author, novelist, and expert in foreign policy and national security strategy. His areas of interest include defence technologies and the future of war. Currently, he is an Associate Professor at the National Defense University and Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service in Washington, DC. Previously, he served in multiple think tanks, was a paratrooper in the U.S. Army’s 82nd Airborne Division, and was a private military contractor in Africa. His latest book, The New Rules of War: Victory In The Age Of Durable Disorder, provides an urgent exploration of warfare – past, present, and future – that asks why certain nations no longer win wars, and then explains the ten rules that we must follow in order to do so. McFate holds degrees from Brown University, Harvard University, and a PhD from the London School of Economics (LSE).
