Jade is a DPhil candidate with the Department of Politics and International Relations at the University of Oxford. Her research centres on the governance of general purpose dual-use technologies, with a specific focus on advanced artificial intelligence in the US and China. She focuses on the critical actor dynamics between large multinational private technology companies and state actors with the view to understanding how the nature of these inter-actor dynamics translates into dual-use risk mitigation, and the safe and ethical deployment of dual-use technologies.
Besides her appointment with the Centre for Technology and Global Affairs, Jade is also affiliated with the Governance of Artificial Intelligence Program at the Future of Humanity Institute as a researcher. She has a background in engineering, international law, and policy design and evaluation.
